Cider Tasting

Port Townsend, WA

Last weekend I went with some of my friends to go cider tasting! Port Townsend is one of my favorite little towns in the Olympic Peninsula and is an easy day trip from the Seattle area. We visited three craft cider makers with tasting rooms unique to the owners. All of them nestled up in the mountains and trees and rested on farms.  Finn River was my favorite with their various flavorful ciders. I’m also a sucker for anything lavender, so their lavender brew was an immediate winner. If you’re a gluten free junkie or just a cider connoisseur, you will definitely have to take a little weekend trip to visit. We also ventured to delightful farmers markets, adorable little shops in rustic buildings and enjoyed delicious food from restaurants over looking the water as you watch the ferries and boats cruise the water. Try and make a summer adventure out to this little town!

Amber & Josh’s Snoqualmie Falls Wedding

Snoqualmie, WA

Amber and Josh had a very intimate wedding at Salish Lodge that overlooks the Snoqualmie Falls. It was a breathtaking day as they said “I do” in an elegant room that overlooked the falls with their close family and friends. It was such an honor to be a part of their wedding day and I am so happy for them! Joy radiated over Amber and Josh and you can’t help but smile and laugh with them as they dedicated their life together – a life I know that is promised to be laced with happiness. Congratulations Amber & Josh!

Authentic Japanese Sushi

Sendai, Japan

I would consider my self an avid fan of sushi. My husband on the other hand…well lets just say it was really hard to get him to steer away from chicken strips and fries. He was a trooper though when this plate was served to him when we ventured to Sendai City to visit family a few days into our honeymoon.  Sendai City is close to the sea so they are known for some of the best sushi in their region. It was a treat to be able to experience a Japanese cuisine with over a thousand year history and tradition.

One of my favorite things about sushi though is not just the taste, but the presentation.  Masters in Japan make each bite an experience of color, texture, and presentation on top of taste. Each piece we had was so unique and beautifully crafted! I had to snap a few shots before we dived in.

Although Japan is the top of authentic Sushi, I believe the Tacoma & Seattle area does a pretty amazing job as well. I love living in a city that is so diverse in culture and nationalities. We often get to experience various cultures at our doorstep. I try to be a little adventurous, but I can never turn down a good tuna roll or sashimi. What’s your favorite roll/piece?

Beauty of a Dream

“You must give everything to make your life as beautiful as the dreams that dance in your imagination.” -Roman Payne

My husband and I are taking this next year to start working toward our dreams. Things that we believe we were created for, things we are passionate about and things that constantly dance in our imaginations. Yet, these dreams don’t come easy. We have learned more of the depths of sacrifice and that you really do have to give it everything to achieve them mixed in with a ton of faith. We will be jumping into a lot of nail biting opportunities soon and it is a wild ride. I am so excited and also tempted with a bit of human fear, but I wouldn’t want to be in any other place. We trust Jesus in this. A journey He is directing us.

Are there any hidden dreams in your life waiting to come to life? Share it here because sometimes the first step is just naming it.beauty_israel_church

Yamadera

Yamagata City, Japan

Yamadera, literally means “mountain temple” in Japanese. It  is an impressive scenic sight extended high up into a mountainside with steps that carve into the hills with scattered temples throughout the journey UP. We climbed over 1,000 steep steps until we reached the very top! There are great views down onto the valley that make the climb worth it though, plus the unique architecture. We went in October, so the foliage was spectacular. The distant mountains bursting with red, pink, brown, yellow and evergreen just took my breath away.

Tokyo Lights

Tokyo, Japan

Tonight, I have finally been able to go through our pictures from our honeymoon in Japan! Before the posts start rolling, I wanted to share one of our favorite experiences. When we were in Tokyo, Trevor’s cousin Hironori hooked us up with the most incredible hotels! We were right on the water of Tokyo Bay and our room overlooked the city. It was GORGEOUS. We also went on a dinner boat cruise with his family one of the nights, which was a blast! We had so much fun exploring Tokyo, meeting up with family and friends and unlocking some of Trevor’s heritage. Memories that will forever be tucked away in our hearts.
