Trevor took me to the Henry Art Gallery on UW campus for a date night last friday. And half our entrance was free since Trevor is officially a graduate student this January! YAY for student discounts again! I love museums, even if I barely understand what is going on or I stand at a piece of art for 30 minutes in awe. But every time, it’s a guarantee to spark curiosity and always inspire me in some fashion.
During this journey, a large section of the pieces were in some ways rip offs. Portraying art or literature pieces that were inspiring and shaped in their own journals. It reminded me of Tumblr. You often use this tool to re-blog others on your own blog. Yet, it’s still unique because it is on your page, how you designed it. So in this, they had really old journals with clippings from news papers or various books that were in peoples “common place” journals, similar to a scrap book. It was still very beautiful how they laid out others words. In some cases made the original authors words come to life in ways that shape that individuals own life. You could even take home and collect quotes, pictures and pieces of stories for your own “common place” journal. And be a part of it with having your portrait taken and added to a collection in the lower gallery. Trevor and I grabbed a few items that inspired us and enjoyed exploring.
What was your favorite museum you have ever ventured to?
